Optimizer Implantable Pulse Generators
CCM Therapy – Sample EKG
In an emergency, the implanted Optimizer® device can be deactivated by the application of any pacemaker magnet over the implant site for 2-3 seconds. The Optimizer® will not resume therapy (for at least 24 hours) when the magnet is removed. Device reprogramming may be necessary to reactivate the device once a magnet has been applied.
The implanted Optimizer® device delivers an electrical stimulus (CCM® therapy) to the heart intermittently throughout the day. Although CCM® therapy can appear on the EKG as a large pacing type artifact late in the QRS, the Optimizer® device is not a pacemaker. The spikes seen are non-excitatory and happen when the patient is unable to feel the electrical stimulus.
