Impulse Dynamics announces the first implantation of the Optimizer IVs device in a patient with a concomitant S-ICD in the United States
Orangeburg, New York – July 28, 2015 – Impulse Dynamics (USA), Inc. announced that Cardiac electrophysiologist, Andrew Kaplan, M.D., FACC, FHRS became the first physician in the United States to implant the Optimizer™ IVs investigational device as part of the FIX-HF-5C FDA IDE protocol in a heart failure patient with a previously implanted subcutaneous (under the skin) implantable cardioverter defibrillator or S-ICD. About the Optimizer and CCM Therapy
CCM is the brand name for Cardiac Contractility Modulation, the non-excitatory electrical pulses delivered by the implantable Optimizer device during the absolute refractory period of the heart’s cardiac cycle to improve systolic contraction of the heart.
